Red Dead Redemption 2 PC Mods We Want To See
By Burhanudin Zamri|October 24, 2019|0 Comment
Rockstar recently released a new trailer for the PC version of Red Dead Redemption 2. With support for 4K resolution and unlimited framerates, there’s no doubt that even those who played the game on consoles will consider reliving Arthur Morgan’s journey in the not-so-wild Wild West this 5th November.
For people like me who didn’t particularly enjoy the “ride horse here, shoot people, ride horse back to mission giver” formula of the game, it’ll take more than just visual upgrades to convince me to get the PC version. I’ll only go back to being Dutch’s idiot if there are big changes to the game and what better way to bring big changes to a game than to mod the heck out of it.
So let me share with you guys what I’m expecting to see coming from the wacky and brilliant minds of the Rockstar modding community. I’ll split them into three categories: Model Swap, Quality Of Life, and Miscellaneous.
Look, you can’t call it a cowboy game if you don’t have the option of playing as the most famous toy cowboy in the world. I want to see Woody brave through all the harrowing and brutal offerings of the world of Red Dead Redemption 2 while his beautifully-painted brown eyes and unbreakable smile remain unchanged no matter the circumstances.
Perfect for a dishonourable playthrough.
When thinking of a horse-riding game protagonist that everyone loves, Geralt is the only other character I’d think of besides Arthur Morgan and John Marston. For maximum satisfaction, the mod should allow him to show two rifles on his back, so that we can roleplay the idea that one rifle is for humans and the other one is for monsters.
We use the latter to kill Dutch of course.
Look, we need a Rockstar time travel crossover. It doesn’t have to make sense because most Rockstart games don’t make sense anyway. It just has to be fun and you know what would be fun? Carl frickin’ Johnson in Red Dead Redemption 2.
The icing on the cake should be getting a Dutch sound-alike to pull off a “All you had to do was follow the damn train, Carl!”
One of the reasons why Red Dead Redemption 2 remains one of the most memorable a year later is thanks to how beautiful it looks. Unfortunately, it suffers the same exact problem that plagued The Witcher 3 when it comes to travelling from point A to point B. Players become overly dependent on the minimap and can’t appreciate the beautiful environments.
I’m hoping for a mod that puts something like GPS waypoints or makers into the 3D environment instead of on the minimap.
How many times must I tell you, game developers? Weapon wheels are for consoles! Some people might feel confident that Rockstar would ensure that weapons would be binded to individual keys for the PC version but look at the Grand Theft Auto V PC version. There’s a weapon wheel in there!
If Rockstar doesn’t do it right, I hope a modder will.
Imagine my disappointment when the final act of Red Dead Redemption 2 and discovered that the clothing options I had at that point were not much different compared to the ones I got on the first clothes-buying tutorial.
This game needs more clothes and I don’t care if it’s not going to be historically accurate. I want a full black suit for my man Morgan and let him go full John Wick in cowboy town.
I don’t know if anyone else feels the same way but I thought the wanted system in Red Dead Redemption 2 felt somewhat unrealistic. In most situations where I’ve accrued a bounty, I find that I did everything I could to make sure I didn’t get a bounty and yet somehow somewhere somebody saw me sticking my hand in the cookie jar despite not being near a single soul near me.
I’m pretty sure I’ve got a lot of other mod ideas but I figured that it’s enough for me to just list down the ones I want most. What about you guys? Are there any mods you’d like to see in the PC version of Red Dead Redemption 2? Share with us on Twitter or Facebook!
