Kojima Productions To Make Films In The Future; Also The Sky Is Blue
For a video game auteur who loves making references to classic 80s films, you’d think this revelation would come sooner than later. But what’s said is now said: Hideo Kojima will eventually make films in the future.
According to a BBC documentary on the making of Death Stranding, Hideo Kojima revealed that his studio, Kojima Productions, will make films.
“In the future, Kojima Productions will also start making films. If a person can do one thing well, then they should be able to do anything well.
I think within the next three to four years, everything will move to streaming — games, movies, and TV shows. We’re pretty much there with TV shows and movies.
When that happens, movies, TV shows, and games will be competing in the same space.”
Given the man’s propensity for cutscenes and expositions in his stealth-action games, this is more of an inevitability.
Check out the full ego trip, I mean documentary below. It’s quite a trip.
When I saw the video description calling Kojima the “Spielberg of gaming”, I nearly fried my desktop computer because of the massive spit take I made. It’s a pretty ludicrous declaration because as far as I remember, Steven Spielberg did not name his characters after erections, rely on scatological humour to drive his whimsical plots forward, and actually hired a good editor to make his vision palatable.
Death Stranding will be out this Friday. If you’re on the fence about it, read our review.
