Terminator Resistance Nails Tone But Looks Like A Far Cry Clone

Reef Entertainment previously announced Terminator Resistance, a new single-player first-person shooter featuring an original story operating on licenses from the first two Terminator movies, 1984’s The Terminator and 1991’s Terminator 2: Judgment Day, and will presumably be canon.
The developer has released two new gameplay trailers for the upcoming game, one of which is barely more than a minute long while the other is close to 10 minutes in length. The 10-minute-long trailer gives us a glimpse into the opening level of Terminator Resistance, and here’s what I think of it.
While the visuals do look decent for what seems to be just a mid-budget licensed game, it seems like the developers did put some necessary work into nailing the bleak and dreary tone of the Future War as seen in the movies (albeit the physics looking like it lacks weight). It remains to be seen if that translates to the overall atmosphere as well.
However, Terminator Resistance‘s gameplay looks generic, sort of like a Far Cry clone. It just reminds me of how 2013’s Far Cry Blood Dragon explored a similar setting with gameplay that looked more fun and exciting. That said, the idea of going up against actual T-800s has me giddy, as these were not shown in the trailers.
Terminator Resistance is slated to release for the PS4, Xbox One and PC on 15 November 2019 (in Australia and Europe) and 10 December 2019 in the US. In the meantime, check out both of the trailers below.
