Since The Mandalorian was originally announced and even after the debut of its first episode earlier this week, we still don’t know who the titular Mandalorian is underneath the helmet. Thanks to the guy playing the Mandalorian himself, now we know, and it’s…
…nobody we’ve ever heard of in Star Wars canon.
In an interview with ScreenSlam on YouTube, Pascal finally drops the real name of the character he’s playing on the Disney Plus exclusive series. He said (around the 2:30 minute mark), quite nonchalantly at that:
“The Mandalorian, whose name is Dyn Jarrin, is your iconically cool, flawed, mysterious, loner gunslinger that harkens to the best of the samurai movies and westerns.”
However, the official spelling for The Mandalorian’s real name has yet to be confirmed by Disney or Lucasfilm, so it could be anything from Dyn Jarrin to Dyn Jarryn or Din Jarren. We’ll probably learn more about the character in future episodes, which will begin releasing every Friday starting from 15 November 2019.
I personally found the first episode of The Mandalorian to be a great start and worthy of the Star Wars branding so far (check out my review here). In the meantime, check out the exclusive clip from the first episode below.
