Indonesian Superhero Movie Gundala Strikes Malaysian Cinemas Next Month
By Burhan Zamri|November 22, 2019|0 Comment
The success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe has saturated cinemas with superhero movies all year round throughout the past decade. This trend won’t be stopping anytime soon as even Indonesia is about to begin establishing their very own series of superhero movies.
Launching its first official trailer back in July, Gundala will finally be launching in Malaysian cinemas on 26 December 2019. The movie has already premiered in its home country in August and judging from what I’ve read online, it’s been getting good reviews from the Indonesian audience.
Gundala tells the story of Sancaka, a man who gets the shock of his life after being struck by lightning. The incident gives him superpowers and he must choose whether to continue his lifestyle of only looking out for himself or use his newfound gifts to fight the injustice that rages on throughout the country.
Gundala from the comics. Remind you of a certain Captain?
Directed by Joko Anwar, the movie is set as the beginning point of the BumiLangit Cinematic Universe. Gundala himself is a comic book character who originated from an Indonesian comic of the same title published by BumiLangit.
