UTeM’s DARKHORSE Crowned Malaysia’s Best PUBG Mobile Varsity Team
By Burhanudin Zamri|November 24, 2019|0 Comment
With more than 6,000 students and a total of 231 teams participating, the PUBG Mobile Campus Championship (PMCC) Malaysia 2019 has been a grand event for young PUBG Mobile fans throughout the country. The Grand Finals concluded today and the champion is…
…DARKHORSE from Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM)!
After securing themselves not one, not two, but three chicken dinners in the Grand Finals, DARKHORSE already left every other team in the dust before the 5th match even began.
They received the grand prize of RM18,000 plus other sponsored goodies such as a year of free Boost credit and a year of free Yoodo mobile plan. We’ll be seeing more of them next year in the PUBG Mobile National Championship (PMNC) Malaysia.
Coming in at second place is AKA Esports from Tunku Abdul Rahman University College (TARC) who didn’t get any chicken dinners but always ended up in the top spots thanks to how good they were at racking up kills and surviving long enough to become the top 7 teams in almost every match. They walk home with RM8,000.
2nd runner-up is another equine ensemble, KUDA Esport from Management and Science University (MSU). They nabbed themselves one chicken dinner from the second match and persistently came close to winning every other match. The shoutcasters frequently joked about how the two horse-themed teams were having an intense rivalry. KUDA Esport got a prize of RM5,000.
To cut back on the intensity, those who came down to IOI Mall Puchong to watch the tournament live was treated with a showmatch featuring Malaysian celebrities and influencers including singer Elizabeth Tan and popular streamer and esports veteran Firdaus “MasterRamen” Hashim. MasterRamen employed his usual tactic of staying put and camped himself to victory.
After every match, the crowd was given opportunities to win cool prizes by answering quizzes. Aside from jerseys and electronics sponsored by the tournament’s sponsors, some lucky participants also won themselves tickets to the PUBG Mobile Club Open (PMCO) 2019 Fall Split Global Finals which will be happening from 29 November to 1 December 2019 at the Putra World Trade Center (PWTC).
Overall, it was a great day for PUBG Mobile fans all throughout Malaysia, especially those who watched the tournament live at IOI Mall Puchong. Next up is the PMCO 2019 Fall Split Global Finals and everyone is excited to not just see PUBG Mobile players all around the world come to Malaysia but to also support the only Malaysian team that made into the Global Finals: Yoodo Gank.
Good luck to Yoodo Gank for the PMCO Global Finals and good luck to DARKHORSE for PMNC 2020!
