Our Favourite Racing Game Of 2018 Now Has A 72-Car Battle Royale Mode

Forza Horizon 4, the best racing game of 2018, is now getting a lot more hectic in its British countryside setting.

The racing game will now get a new battle royale mode called Eliminator starting 12th December PST time, later today. The new mode will pit 72 players against one another in a race to the center of an open-air arena as a circle of death slowly closes in on them.

How much do you have to pay for this mode? Nothing, because it’s free!

While you won’t be able to upgrade your car mid-race by winning head-to-head matchups, you can choose your starting vehicle and areas, and work up through nine additional tiers of vehicles by clearing checkpoints. Use your GPS to track them, or just leave it to chance and just mow the countryside; it’s up to you.

Forza Horizon 4’s Eliminator mode is similar to what Nintendo did with Tetris 99; take a competitive concept, add more players and a battle royale mechanic, and roll with it. Last we checked, the latter did great and justified people paying for Nintendo’s online service. Perhaps this is the metaphorical jumpstart cable this polished-as-heck ride needs.
