This New Add-On Will Turn Your DS4 Into A High-Performance Controller
By Alleef Ashaari|December 17, 2019|0 Comment
Sony has announced a new attachment/accessory for the Dualshock 4 PS4 controller; the DualShock 4 Back Button Attachment. This new add-on will add two programmable and highly tactile back buttons, allowing players to shorten their response time and more flexibility in competitive gameplay.
The two back buttons can map up to 16 different actions such as triangle, circle, R1 and R2, to name a few. They also provide amazing tactile feedback, as well as an integrated OLED display that provides real-time information for button assignments.
In addition, a dedicated button allows players to remap back button inputs on the fly so that they are always prepared no matter what game they’re playing. To make things even easier, players can save and choose up to three different profiles for use in various games.
And oh, don’t worry, it comes with a little hole for connecting any 3.5mm wired headset to the controller. The DualShock 4 Back Button Attachment launches in the US on 23 January 2020 at the price of US$29.99 or roughly RM124+.
That costs almost as much as a Dualshock 4, so it remains unclear as of now whether the new add-on will offer better value than simply buying a high-performance luxury controller from third-party developers like SCUF Gaming, Razer or Nacon.
That’s not even mentioning the fact that the PS5 is slated to launch late next year alongside a brand new controller. This new add-on will likely get irrelevant very soon if it’s not compatible with the upcoming PS5 controller.
