Telltale Games Might Be Leaving Episodic Releases Behind
By Alleef Ashaari|December 24, 2019|0 Comment
After being acquired and revived by LCG Entertainment, the newly-risen Telltale Games shocked the world when they announced their next new game at the recent The Game Awards 2019; The Wolf Among Us 2. However, little to no details were revealed, as development is probably still in the early stages.
Now it looks like the new Telltale Games will be embracing new philosophies for their future games starting with The Wolf Among Us 2, as they could be leaving behind their former episodic release model.
Instead of releasing their games with a new episode every few months, they might be adopting a more conventional release model with a complete package at launch. However, games will still be created to be played in episodic chunks, but they will now be developing them as a whole from the very beginning.
In an interview with GameDaily.biz, Telltale Games CEO Jamie Ottilie said:
“We are creating the stories episodically, but how they will be released is still to be determined.
I think the important distinction here is that we will no longer be developing episodically.
If we do release the game in episodes, all of them will be ready before the first one hits the store.â€
The only details we know about The Wolf Among Us 2 so far is that the game won’t be releasing in 2020, so gamers will have to wait for a while longer. It is slated to release on multiple platforms but will be exclusive to the Epic Games Store for PC.
2013’s The Wolf Among Us is wide-regarded as one of the old Telltale Games’ best titles. It is actually a prequel to the Bill Willingham’s epic fantasy Fables comic book series published by DC’s Vertigo Comics, taking place before the events of the source material.
