New Outlast Game Will Feature 4-Player Co-op

Making a standout horror survival game isn’t easy. There are literally hundreds of similar games being made every year but developer Red Barrels managed to carve a name for themselves through their Outlast games and they’re not done just yet.
Red Barrels has just announced their next game titled The Outlast Trials. Unlike the first two Outlast games, it will feature a multiplayer component that allows for co-op play for up to 4 players. The studio is done with the proof of concept so development has only started. In other words, don’t expect a release date anytime soon.
I don’t blame if you thought the people in the above image were wearing VR headsets and the game was going to be a VR game. Fortunately, the studio has confirmed that this won’t be a VR game. Look closely and you’ll see that the test subjects are actually wearing night vision goggles.
What’s confirmed is that the game is still set within the Outlast universe but isn’t a direct sequel to Outlast 2. It’s set in the Cold War era and will place players in the shoes of test subjects who are taking part in a horrific experiment. Let’s hope we get a gameplay trailer sometime in 2020.
