[Report] Disney Wants George Lucas To Supervise Future Star Wars Movies

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker marks the end of the Skywalker Saga and oh what an ending it was! Some fans loved the new trilogy, some fans absolutely hated it. Disney probably knows of this division and it looks like they want to do something about it.

According to a report by We Got This Covered, Lucasfilm (now a subsidiary of Disney) wants George Lucas to come back and help them make future Star Wars films. A few years ago, George was hired as a creative consultant for The Force Awakens but Disney didn’t really like his ideas.

This rumour is worth paying attention to because the same sources told We Got This Covered two major The Rise of Skywalker spoilers ahead of the film’s release. Both turned out to be accurate.

Instead of having him being involved directly, the sources explained that Disney wants George to take “more of a flexible executive producer role”. Could this mean that we’ll get more Star Wars films directed and written by George? We’ll have to wait and see.

While it’s true that The Rise of Skywalker turned out to be a major trainwreck, the problem probably isn’t George’s absence. The decision to have different directors for each film in a trilogy must have been the source of many creative discrepancies.

What do you guys think? Will Disney be able to make better Star Wars movies if they bring George Lucas back? Or is it an entirely different problem? We want to hear your  thoughts on our Facebook page!
