Dedicated Fan Fixes Street Fighter V Netcode Bug In Just Two Days

Since its initial release in 2016, Street Fighter V has suffered from a netcode bug. Basically, one player’s game can lag behind the opposing player when playing online. Capcom has yet to launch a patch to fix this problem in the past four years.

Fortunately, a dedicated fan of the franchise by the name of Reddit user Altimor has stepped up and created a fix for the Street Fighter V netcode bug.

He claimed that he worked on the fix in just two days, which is an impressive feat when compared to Capcom who have had four long years to fix the problem.

According to Altimor, he managed to create the fix simply by reverse-engineering the bug.

The fix ensures the player’s “clock” never gets more than half of their packet round trip time ahead of their opponent’s so that they never experience more rollback or lag.

Keep in mind that the fix is only for the PC or Steam version of Street Fighter V. All players need to do is download the fix on the Reddit post here and extract the contents of the zip file to “Steam/steamapps/common/Street Fighter V”.

Here’s hoping that Capcom notices the problem and come up with an official fix as soon as possible. It’s pretty embarrassing that one guy can do what a massive AAA game developer can’t.
