Blizzard Partners With Renowned Designer For Overwatch League Streetwear Lineup
By Burhanudin Zamri|January 17, 2020|0 Comment
It’s been said time and time again that esports players don’t need to dress like traditional sports players. Jerseys are cool and all but the materials are made for more abrasive usage. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem that companies are catching up with that opinion yet.
Blizzard has just announced a new lineup of streetwear jerseys designed by the legendary Jeff Staple for the Overwatch League (OWL). For those of you who’ve never heard of him, Staple is the founder of Staple Design. It’s a studio that has collaborated with a boatload of brands including Adidas, Nike, Pepsi, and even PlayStation.
Dubbed the OWL X STAPLE collection, it includes short-sleeve jerseys, long-sleeve jerseys, jackets, compression sleeves, hats, and beanies for each of the 20 OWL teams. Fans can pre-order the products starting from 28 January 2020 on the OWL merchandise website.
“I have been observing esports for years and am a huge fan of what Overwatch League has been able to accomplish, so when they asked me to design their new kits, I was stoked.”
– Jeff Staple
The collection will be officially out on 8 February 2020. Perfect timing since OWL 2020 begins this February. Do note that each team will have their own unique home and away kit which has been designed for OWL 2020.
As someone who’s not that big on esports merch, I’ll admit that these jerseys actually look really appealing. I honestly wouldn’t mind wearing one of them in public while doing my day-to-day activities. Despite that, I’m still not a big enough fan to fork out cash for them.
I’m sure OWL fans will definitely want to get their hands on these jerseys. Not just to look good but to show their support when they attend the matches that their favourite team is playing.
