Obi-Wan Kenobi Series Delayed Indefinitely, Looking For New Writers

The Disney Plus series Obi-Wan Kenobi has been put on hold and delayed indefinitely after the film crew were told to go home and existing scripts were scrapped.

This is according to sources from Collider, as it is reported that Lucasfilm president and Obi-Wan producer Kathleen Kennedy was not happy with the scripts. The company is now on the hunt for new writers to make a new script.

The reason for this is claimed to be that the plot for Obi-Wan Kenobi trod familiar ground with The Mandalorian. It initially featured the Jedi Master protecting a young Luke and perhaps even a young Leia, which is similar to the dynamic between Din Djarin and Baby Yoda.

The Obi-Wan Kenobi series was previously confirmed by Ewan McGregor himself to feature six hour-long episodes. However, the same sources now say that the episode count is likely going to be reduced to just four, instead of the original six.

While Ewan McGregor and Deborah Chow will still reprise his role and remain attached as director respectively, there is no clear indication when production on the series will continue.

The Obi-Wan Kenobi news comes as the Star Wars franchise has been put on pause on the big screen, especially after the disappointing Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, which despite earning more than US1.03 billion worldwide to date, was greeted with mixed reaction by critics and fans alike.
