Mortal Kombat’s Famous Ninja Is Getting His Own Movie [Update]

Update: here’s a sneak peek of the animated movie in action. It looks pretty badass and it’ll take place during the first Mortal Kombat tournament (ala MK1 and MK9). Of course, it’ll be centralized on the life, death, and rebirth of Hanzo Hasashi a.k.a Scorpion.

Original story

“GET OVER HERE!” That’s the iconic cry of Mortal Kombat’s vengeful spectre ninja Scorpion as he harpoons on over a movie deal for his producers over at Warner Bros. Animation.

The titular ninja will be getting his own animated movie alongside the upcoming live-action Mortal Kombat movie in a two-movie plan from WB themselves (via Hollywood Reporter). The former will be called Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge and it may be focused on retelling Scorpion’s quest in killing the first Sub-Zero for murdering his family and clan.

And just to clear the confusion, the current Sub-Zero is the brother of the first Sub-Zero and isn’t anything like him. In fact, the brother is actually Bi Han, who is Noob Saibot in the current MK game. There’s a ton of lore to go through, fair warning.

Patrick Seitz and Steve Blum will be reprising their roles as Scorpion and Sub-Zero respectively; the actors have voiced their MK counterparts since Mortal Kombat 9. Community’s Joel McHale will be voicing Johnny Cage, while Jennifer Carpenter will be voicing Sonya Blade.

I would have preferred if they stuck with the Mortal Kombat Mythologies naming scheme for consistencies’ sake. But then again, not many did enjoy that pretty lacklustre PS1 Sub-Zero-focused game as much as some diehards.
