New Ratchet And Clank Could Be Part Of PS5 Launch Lineup

Despite taking the world by storm with PS4 exclusive Marvel’s Spider-Man in 2018, Insomniac Games is more than just that one title. In fact, they have been a stalwart supporter of PlayStation consoles since the very first, and their best franchise is arguably the Ratchet And Clank franchise.

A new rumour has reportedly claimed that a new Ratchet And Clank game is currently in development for the PS5, and might very well be part of the next-gen console’s launch lineup later this year.

On his podcast Sacred Symbols+, former IGN editor Colin Moriarty said that Insomniac Games and Sony Interactive Entertainment have plans for a new Ratchet And Clank PS5 game:

“We’re going to get a Ratchet and Clank in-between [Spider-Man 2018 and its sequel] on PlayStation 5.

I feel like that’s going to be a launch game, the Ratchet and Clank game that’s long been in development at Insomniac.”

As of now, there have been 13 titles in the Ratchet And Clank franchise, consisting of both mainline instalments and spinoffs. The latest entry was 2016’s Ratchet And Clank for the PS4, which was a reboot of the original 2002 PS2 game.

With Sony Interactive Entertainment now owning Insomniac Games, there’s definitely nothing stopping them from releasing a new Ratchet And Clank game for the PS5, if they’re not too busy with the sequel to 2018’s Marvel’s Spider-Man.

In the meantime, check out all the latest updates and developments on all things PS5 here.
