It’s a veritable windfall for Sony and the PlayStation brand as the company announced its financial results for the three past months that ended on 31st December of last year.
The total number of PS4s shipped globally has reached a pretty significant 108.9 million units. Breaking it down:
- A total of 6.1 million PS4s were shipped during the second quarter of the 2019 fiscal year. Previously, the company shipped 8.1 million in the same period in its 2018 fiscal year.
- There are 38.8 million PlayStation Plus subscribers as of December 31, 2019.
- PlayStation 4 software sold 81.1 million units in the third quarter of fiscal year 2019. 49 per cent of those sales were full game software digital downloads.
While these numbers are a slight decrease compared to 2018’s fiscal year, it’s still a great cause for celebration for all Sony fans all across the globe. 2020 is looking like a beast of a year for the company, with big titles like The Last of Us Part 2 and Ghost of Tsushima, as well as the PS5.
