Ooblets Dev Teases Possible 2020 Release In New Update

Glumberland, a two-person indie games developer, have been working on life management and farming simulator game Ooblets since 2016. After announcing last year that it will be an Epic Games Store exclusive, it looks like we might finally be getting the game this year.

The developer has published a new blog post that hints at a possible 2020 release date for Ooblets. They stated:

“I don’t want to get you excited, but ¡GET EXCITED! because 2020 is the YEAR OF THE OOB.

It’s been foretold in the prophecies/milestone calendar.

That’s really all I can say about that right now so feel free to draw all sorts of wild conclusions.”

In the same blog post, Glumberland revealed new gameplay features and mechanics, the highlight of which is the sea-dangling activity. Sea-dangling is like fishing, but without the fish, which is pretty weird if you think about it.

The badge system has also been changed so that the Mayor will now send an Ooblet to deliver them to players, instead of previously having to track down the Mayor just to unlock badges. There is also the addition of several new charming animations, new dance moves, lore expansion, and balancing.

However, the dev still has lots of work to do, which they reveal at the end of the blog post.

“Our next big tasks are getting the Mamoonia region in a decent state, fixing up oobcoops, adding a lot to clubhouses, adding a disposable card system, and putting in more lore items.

It’s gonna be another very busy month!”
