New Devil May Cry 5 Update Removes Denuvo
By Alleef Ashaari|February 11, 2020|0 Comment
Capcom has officially removed Denuvo from Devil May Cry 5 on PC via its latest update. Although the company has yet to unveil the full patch notes, website SteamDB noticed a change to the game’s .exe file after the most recent update.
The only change in the latest patch of Devil May Cry 5 is the removal of Denuvo’s anti-piracy DRM. Denuvo is infamous for causing issues in games like lowering performance due to unusually high CPU usage and sometimes even damaging SSDs.
This move is normal for Capcom, who often removes Denuvo within a year from a game’s initial release. For instance, Resident Evil 2 Remake had its Denuvo removed in December 2019. Notably, Monster Hunter World is so far Capcom’s only relatively-recent title still with Denuvo.
However, Capcom will continue using Denuvo for its future games, including the upcoming Resident Evil 3 Remake. In the meantime, check out our review of Devil May Cry V and Resident Evil Remake 2, respectively.
