[Rumour] Call Of Duty Modern Warfare Battle Royale Is Dropping In March

The battle royale mode for Infinity Ward’s Call Of Duty Modern Warfare is reportedly launching pretty soon. This comes after the earlier discovery of Call Of Duty Warzone (the name for Call Of Duty Modern Warfare‘s battle royale) found hidden within the base game’s files.

According to development sources from Video Games Chronicle, Call Of Duty Modern Warfare‘s battle royale will be dropping sometime in March 2020, the likeliest release date of which would be on Tuesday, 10 March 2020. This is because the game’s updates are usually deployed on Tuesdays.

Call Of Duty Modern Warfare‘s Warzone battle royale mode will reportedly instantly unlock for all owners of the base game via a currently-unavailable menu option.

However, the interesting bit here is that the battle royale mode will also be released as a standalone game for free, alongside an option for players to purchase and upgrade to the full version of Call Of Duty Modern Warfare if they want to.

In addition, the sources also indicate that marketing plans for Warzone will begin later this week when selected content creators in the US will be allowed to visit the studio to play the game’s battle royale mode ahead of a future official announcement.

Here are the details we know about Call Of Duty Modern Warfare‘s Warzone battle royale mode so far (including the map):

  • Support for up to a whopping 200 players in a single match.
  • Squad-based player system.
  • Includes a ‘ping’ mechanic similar to that of Apex Legends.
  • New gameplay mechanics such as Plunder, Killstreaks and more.
  • A map twice as large as Call Of Duty Black Ops 4 Blackout.
