In case you missed the announcement, the PlayStation community forums are closing.

From February 27, PlayStation users will have to make do with the PlayStation Blog, Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram for PlayStation-related discourse, while those seeking product support have the Playstation.com/help/ support site.

Not being a PlayStation forum user myself, I don’t have any memories or feelings of attachment to the forums. So, I headed off to Twitter to see what soon-to-be-former PlayStation forum users have to say about the closure.

Some of them are deliberative, wondering about what the move entails.

So @PlayStation is closing its once thriving online forum.

With communities a core part of the #PS5 strategy, it'll be interesting to see if there's a new digital engagement solution on the way.

Or does this signal a wider industry move away from #forums towards social media?

Many are sad to see them go.

I am impossibly sad to hear that the PlayStation Community forums are closing down for good.

I learned my trade there, met some amazing (and now very great) friends there and smiled so much because of the amazing people and content that it brought to the internet.

Going to chime in with the sadness of the PlayStation forums closing. Whilst I haven't touched any console in a considerable amount of years, the memories and friends I've met through the community in particular are forever. Love you all… well most of you anyway ?

Since PlayStation announced the global closure of the community forums. I've seen so many familiar faces return. And had a few messages sent to me which has made me smile. It was more than a community for some. And that spirit lives on through us all ?

Others noted that the forums weren’t exactly thriving before the closure announcement.

Same. After the PlayStation MVP program/forums went under, that was pretty much it for me.

Once again, I used to be Yaster. it's always funny how people didn't notice I changed, hah. But yeah, I've been a member of these forums since 2003, it's sad to see them go, but things have been real quiet on there for a while now.

Whatever the case, it feels like the end of an era regardless. We’ve got the PS5 due late this year too, which again delivers the feeling that the times are changing, and nothing stays the same.
