Activision Files DMCA Against Reddit To Fish Out CoD Warzone Leaker
Activision is starting its own modern warfare against leakers, starting this week.
The company that publishes the Call of Duty series has filed a Digital Millenium Copyright Act subpoena against Reddit, in an attempt to get the identity of the Reddit user who leaked the Call of Duty Modern Warfare battle royale mode Warzone leak.
Basically, they’re targeting the real person behind the Reddit user account Assyrian2410 who posted the leak on the Modern Warfare subreddit. The user quickly deleted the post and the account. Here are the actual words from the subpoena.
“Reddit is the service provider to which the subject of the subpoena-Reddit user ‘Assyrian2410’ – posted infringing Activision content. The Content infringes Activision’s exclusive rights under copyright law. Specifically, it infringes Activision’s rights in its popular video game Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.”
So far, this means that the battle royale mode is confirmed to be out this March. And whether this is a legit DMCA threat or a huge publicity stunt remains to be seen.
