Director Reveals First Look At Robert Pattinson Batman Suit

Director Matt Reeves has finally revealed our first look at Robert Pattinson’s Batman suit from the upcoming The Batman movie. He shared a brief screen test teaser of the actor in the new and unique Batman suit on his personal Twitter account, accompanied by Michael Giacchino’s ominous and epic new The Batman theme.

Robert Pattinson’s Batman suit looks a lot more makeshift than previous incarnations, as the metallic Batman logo on his chest seems to be made of the gun that Joe Chill used to kill his parents. This could be inspired by a story penned by Kevin Smith in the landmark 1000th issue of Detective Comics, in which Batman actually does that for his chest logo.
Robert Pattinson’s Batman suit also looks like it was inspired by two lesser-known versions of the Dark Knight from the comics. If you notice, he has an elevated collar of sorts, which has never been seen in any of the live-action Batmen so far.
I know of two Batman suits that feature an elevated collar. That’s the one from Brian Augustyn and Mike Mignola’s Gotham By Gaslight Elseworlds one-shot comic and a Batsuit worn by a future version of Damian Wayne AKA the son of Bruce Wayne (which first debuted in Detective Comics issue #966). Check them out below:

It also reminds me a bit of Brian Azzarello and Lee Bermejo’s Batman, especially the ruggedness and overall look of it.
From the Batman: Damned comics.
As good as Robert Pattinson’s Batman looks, we still have a while yet until it will be released. The Batman is slated to premiere on 25 June 2021. The cast (so far) includes Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne AKA Batman, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner James Gordon, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, Colin Farrell as Oswald Cobblepot AKA The Penguin, Zoe Kravitz as Selina Kyle AKA Catwoman, and John Turturro as Carmine Falcone.
In the meantime, check out why I think Robert Pattinson will be a great Batman (or not) here.
