The Transformers & My Little Pony Are Teaming Up; World To End Soon?
Crossovers in comics are nothing new: G.I. Joe and Transformers have been doing this for years on IDW. But what about a seemingly 80s all-girls-cartoon-show that was revamped into a giant-as-hell pop culture phenomenon that even created an alternate demographic called Bronies?
That’s what we called “internet-breaking” in the business. No, that’s not even a term, but it’s pretty wild that 2020 is the year The Transformers and My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic are teaming up.
According to a tip-off from Equestria Daily, these two titular Hasbro toy lines will be doing the comic book crossover in a four-part miniseries. The story? A spell cast by Queen Chrysalis has brought some Autobots and Decepticons to the land of Equestria. Chaos ensues.
“In My Little Pony/Transformers, the scheming Queen Chrysalis casts a spell insearch of changeling allies, but accidentally interferes with a distant Cybertronian Spacebridge… and brings the Autobots and Decepticons to Equestria!
As the dust settles, it’s up to Twilight Sparkle, Optimus Prime, and others to overcome the menace of malevolent magic and machinery!”
The new series will be written by James Asmus, Ian Flynn, and Sam Maggs. The artists on this dream project will be Casey W. Coller, Jack Lawrence, Sara Pitre-Durocher, Tony Fleecs, and Tramontano, with special cover art by Beth McGuire-Smith. The first issue will be out this May.
All this needs now is Stan Bush to come up with some epic mash-up, combining both “The Touch” and the MLP theme.
