Apex Legends Is Tweaking Bloodhound’s Scan

Apex Legends’ masked hunter is getting some changes to his Eye of the Allfather ability via Patch 4.1.

In episode four of the Apex Devstream, lead game designer Carlos Pineda says that Bloodhound’s scan range will increase from 1000 units to 3000 units. In exchange for the buff, however, the ability’s activation time will go up from 0.4 seconds to 0.8 seconds.

In the video, Pineda explains:

“The intent is that we want Bloodhound players to kind of come up on a town and maybe see some markers and then use the scan to scan the town, but not use the scan… in the middle of the fight.”

Basically, use it for actual recon purposes instead of suddenly getting an advantage in a firefight. We’ll see how it turns out in practice.

The patch also reduces Gibraltar’s gun shield health from 75 to 50, introduces a piece of new equipment called the Evo Shield, and increased base inventory slots from 8 to 10, among other changes. You can check out the full patch list here.
