Tom Hanks Heads Back To World War 2 In Greyhound Trailer
By Melvyn Tan|March 6, 2020|0 Comment
Over two decades after he saved Private Ryan, Tom Hanks is returning to World War 2 with his latest movie, Greyhound, which he also wrote.
Inspired by real events (probably referring to the Battle of the Atlantic), the movie follows a convoy of Allied ships who are hunted by Nazi U-boats while en route to England. Tom Hanks plays the first-time captain of a U.S. destroyer, Ernest Krause.
The CGI is noticeable in the trailer at times, but the greyish colours of the naval scenes help to lessen their obviousness and emphasize the bleak situation faced by the Allies as well. There’s also a bit of a horror vibe to the U-boats, which adds to the intensity.
While there was a real US Navy soldier called Ernest Krause who served during the Spanish-American War, this Krause is a fictional character who originated in the book The Good Shepherd, on which Greyhound is based.
Greyhound is scheduled to release on 12 June 2020.
