God Of War Comic Book Will Explore Events Before The PS4 Game

Dark Horse Comics have announced a new prequel comic miniseries to 2018’s God Of War, titled God Of War: Fallen God. While the PS4 exclusive featured Kratos in a new Nordic setting with a whole new pantheon of gods and monsters to slay, it did not explain how he arrived in the foreign land, or what he’s been up to after events of 2010’s God of War 3.

God Of War: Fallen God will aim to bridge that gap and act as a prequel. It will be helmed by Chris Roberson (iZombie, God of War), drawn by artist Tony Parker (God of War, This Damned Band), coloured by Dan Jackson (The Strain, The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys), and lettered by John Roshell (Overwatch Anthology, Astro City).

You can check out the cover of the first issue by Dave Rapoza below.

God Of War Fallen God

According to ComicBook, the official description reads:

God of War: Fallen God follows Kratos after conquering Zeus and thwarting Athena.

Believing himself to be finally free of his bondage, he sets sail for the desert in an attempt to distance himself from his home and his shame only to find his rage and guilt follow close behind.

Kratos rages against the one foe that has proven to be unconquerable, himself.

But a war against oneself is unwinnable, and only invites madness.”

The first issue of the God of War: Fallen God comic book will release on 24 June 2020. It would be interesting to see how it will fill in the blanks of the incredible tale crafted by the folks at Sony Santa Monica.

Meanwhile, there are already several reports hinting at a potential sequel to 2018’s God of War, whether the sources are game director Cory Barlog himself or even a job listing.
