Square Enix Explains Final Fantasy VII Remake Endgame, Size, & More
By Alleef Ashaari|March 24, 2020|0 Comment
We’re less than three weeks away from Final Fantasy VII Remake at this point, and the folks over at Square Enix are starting to open up more about what the upcoming game has to offer.
In an interview with producer Yoshinori Kitase and co-director Naoki Hamaguchi, they reveal new details about Final Fantasy VII Remake.
According to Hamaguchi, the Final Fantasy VII Remake has been designed as if it were a “standalone game”, and “comparable in size to other mainline Final Fantasy games”. It will also feature some sort of “endgame content”, but he did not specify what exactly it will be.
That’s all great news for fans of the original Final Fantasy VII who were initially worried that the upcoming game would be too small in scope compared to previous mainline titles in the franchise.
In addition, they also explained why the Final Fantasy VII Remake was developed to be episodic.
According to Kitase, they had two choices at the beginning; either to make a game with the highest possible level of graphics, visual quality, detail and expand upon the original game, or include the entire scope of the original game in a single release but sacrifice visual quality and cut back on content from the original.
They eventually chose the first option, in order to “focus on keeping everything people loved from the original, but go into greater detail and more story depth than before”. Now, players can look forward to exploring each connected section of Midgard with their own respective feel, culture and community.
Final Fantasy VII Remake is slated to release for the PS4 on 10 April 2020. In the meantime, you can check out the demo to tide you over until the game’s full release.
