Sega Gets New Mascot, Who Happens To Be Son Of Old Mascot
Sega’s previous tease wasn’t about Virtua Fighter 6, unfortunately. But it was about something monumental all the same.
The company released an ad announcing its new mascot: the son of the previous mascot Segata Sanshiro. Check out the weirdness below.
For context, Sega had a brute force-based mascot in the 90s (the Sega Saturn period) called Segata Sanshiro. He makes you want to buy Sega and will browbeat you into doing so.
Segata was played by Kamen Rider actor Hiroshi Fujioka. Since he’s 74, he now has his son Maito Fujioka take his place as the new “Segata Sanshiro” as part of the company’s 60th birthday celebration.
Stay tuned as Kakuchopurei will pay attention to additional news coming out during Sega’s anniversary week.
