Final Fantasy VII Remake Combat Guide: How To ATB Like A Pro [Update]

Some Boss Fight Videos (Some Spoilers)

Crab Warden

Lightning spells are pretty useful here. Aim for its legs before hitting the body. When its generator shows, attack that.

Later in the fight, the boss will light up the tracks with the move “Surge”. Stay away from the tracks; that move is an instant kill when you’re fighting it for the first time.

Ghoul

When it’s in physical form, you can only use physical attacks to hurt it. When it’s in spectral form, only magic can hurt it. Apart from Fire spells, you can use Cure spells to damage it. Also, try to stock up on Echo Screens.

Halfway in the fight, it will start reshuffling the furniture in the stage and use “Balefire”, where it summons flames that go around in a slow circular motion on the map. Stop attacking it and start avoiding this move; it deals a lot of damage. Be sure to heal & resurrect whoever gets hit by the move.

Eligor

Use Ice spells to pressure and eventually stagger him. Don’t hit the wheels at the start and middle of the fight; just focus all your attacks and spells on Eligor.

When he starts flying, use a weak spell to get that Reflect spell off of him. Then keep attacking him when possible; just avoid the telltale javelins. When his life is down to a quarter, start attacking and destroying the wheels to initiate a quick stagger.

Valkyrie

At the first segment of the fight, use the cover on the field to avoid its gunfire and missile salvo. Use Barret to attack it from afar.

After the first segment, the Valkyrie will start using Drill Dive. Bait it to use that move by going under it and then dodging out of the way. Once it’s firmly on the ground, start attacking it.

Halfway in the fight, the Valkyrie will shield itself with a forcefield that reduces damage by a ton. This is when a satellite laser tracker starts popping up. Lure it to where the Valkyrie is so that it charges up and fires, depleting its shield and weakening it in the process. This is easier said than done because of the Valkyrie’s rapid fire and napalm attacks. However, you can still bait it to do Drill Drive while luring the laser tracker to its location at the right time; just switch party members to lure it when possible.
