Team Fortress 2 Soldier Voice Actor Rick May Dies At 80

Voice actor Rick May has passed away at the age of 80 after contracting the COVID-19 Coronavirus in a nursing home where he was recovering from a recent stroke in February 2020. His death was reported by the Rekindle School. May was a teacher at the independent art, acting, and film institution in Seattle, Washington, US.

May was best known for voicing many characters in video games, most prominent of which was the role of Soldier in Valve’s Team Fortress 2. He also voiced Dr. M in Sucker Punch’s Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves, and Genghis Khan in Age of Empires II, as well as Peppy Hare and Andross in Star Fox 64.

Fans and friends of the late May have posted tributes on social media. His role as Soldier was beloved in particular, as the player class in Team Fortress 2 became one of the popular characters to come out of the game over the years after many updates and lore expansions.
