Upcoming Autopsy Simulator Combines Post-Mortem Investigations With Horror

We usually associate simulation games with real-life activities like farming and Euro truck driving, or silly nonsense like being a goat or an inept surgeon. A new simulator game, however, is replacing all that with the macabre.

Autopsy Simulator might sound like a Surgeon Simulator-style physics-based comedy game, but this one actually seems a lot more serious. You’ll be diligently slicing up corpses and examining police reports to figure out their cause of death, and the Steam page says that each of the game’s cases was “created with the help of real-world pathomorphologists and forensic doctors”. There are also detailed organs if you’re into that sort of thing.

Surprisingly, the game is taking a stab at horror as well, as the trailer shows the player character seeing walking corpses and finding bugs on his hands. There’s even a mystery element. Here’s the Steam description:

“The player takes the role of pathologist named Jack. During the autopsy of a mysterious woman, Jack finds inside her the engagement ring of his long lost wife Kate. When the action is in progress other elements of the mystery are found. In order to reveal the truth, Jack has to fight a battle with the sinister forces and his own thoughts.”

The game will be coming out sometime in 2020, and while I’m not sure about the horror elements, the base concept is pretty intriguing. Here’s the Steam page if you’re interested.
