New Looney Tunes Cartoons Show Gets First Zany Trailer

I grew up with the classic Looney Tunes show featuring Bugs Bunny and the rest of the iconic cast. It makes me happy that these zany characters are set to return in a new Looney Tunes Cartoons animated series exclusively for HBO Max when the streaming service launches on 27 May 2020.

From the looks of the trailer, the traditional premise for these characters remain the same. We can see Bugs Bunny messing around with Yosemite Sam and Elmer Fudd, Tweety’s cat-and-bird game with Sylvester, Wild E. Coyote’s never-ending chase for Road Runner, Marvin the Martian, Daffy Duck and even Porky Pig.

Looney Tunes Cartoons 1

Here’s what the official synopsis (via Nerdist) states:

“Looney Tunes Cartoons, an all-new series from Warner Bros. Animation starring the cherished Looney Tunes characters.

Looney Tunes Cartoons echoes the high production value and process of the original Looney Tunes theatrical shorts with a cartoonist-driven approach to storytelling.

Marquee Looney Tunes characters will be featured in their classic pairings in simple, gag-driven and visually vibrant stories.

The new series will include 80 eleven-minute episodes, each comprised of animated shorts that vary in length and include adapted storylines for today’s audience.”

Looney Tunes Cartoons is developed by Peter Browngardt, best known as the creator of Secret Mountain Fort Awesome and Uncle Grandpa animated shows on Cartoon Network.

The confirmed list of voice actors to date includes:

  • Eric Bauza – Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Tweety Bird, Pepé le Pew[8] Marvin the Martian
  • Jeff Bergman – Sylvester Pussycat, Elmer Fudd, Foghorn Leghorn
  • Bob Bergen – Porky Pig
  • Fred Tatasciore – Yosemite Sam, Tasmanian Devil
  • Michael Ruocco – Beaky Buzzard

These are all veteran voice actors with decades of experience, and it’s worth pointing out that Eric Bauza is a Canadian of Filipino descent. Interestingly, Bergman was previously the most recent voice actor for Bugs Bunny in The Looney Tunes Show (which ran from 2011 to 2014) and New Looney Tunes (2015 to 2020), but it looks like Warner Bros. wants to inject some new blood into the iconic role.

It’s great to see Warner Bros. bringing back some of the most beloved characters in animation history in a big way. In the meantime, check out the trailer for Looney Tunes Cartoons below.
