Level Up Is Teasing Something For June

The COVID-19 pandemic is certainly messing up physical events. Over here in Malaysia, we’ve already had AMG-Chan being postponed, while the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League Malaysia and Singapore tournament is going for an online format.

Despite all this, Level Up is teasing something for June 2020. “”Guess who is having meetings or is planning some fun online ?!? Stay tuned to our social platforms for more!” they wrote on Twitter. It’s very vague for sure, but it certainly sounds like they’re planning an online event of some sort.

It’s worth noting that this particular tease is unlikely to be related to any replacement of the main Level Up KL event, which usually happens in the last quarter of the year. This Level Up page still has a poster for Level Up 2020 too, with business days from 30 September to 2 October while public days are from 3 October to 4 October. But even if the physical event got scrapped, it’s unlikely that we’ll be having the online replacement on an earlier date.

However, the page also displays a poster for something called Level Up Spacebar, which will seemingly be held on 16 June. Perhaps the tease is related to that event.

In addition, we previously learned that the Level Up organizers have plans for online events around that same time frame. Back then, we wrote that “the organizers of Level Up KL are in the midst of preparing several contingencies for the event which is targeted for October”, and that “plans are already underway for smaller-scaled digital events aimed at stimulating the industry within the next two to three months”. It looks like we’re finally about to learn about those events.

At any rate, we’ll have to wait for the full announcement to know for sure. In the meantime, check out our coverage of Level Up KL 2019, where some pretty cool stuff happened.
