Netflix & 300 Creator Twist King Arthur Legend In New Series
By Alleef Ashaari|May 8, 2020|0 Comment
Frank Miller is a living legend in the comics industry, having written some of the best and most iconic graphic novels, many of which have been adapted into live-action movies. These include Zack Snyder’s 300 (the one with King Leonidas screaming “This is Sparta!”), The Dark Knight Returns, Sin City, and more.
He also illustrated a King Arthur book with writer Tom Wheeler, both of whom will be the executive producers of Netflix’s new fantasy series adaptation of that very same book, Cursed. Wheeler will also act as the main showrunner for the series.
Cursed stars Katherine Langford (best know for portraying Hannah Baker in Netflix’s 13 Reasons Why) as Nimue AKA the Lady Of The Lake and protagonist of the series. In this version of the Arthurian legend, the twist is that Nimue herself must wield Excalibur, instead of King Arthur.
It will also star Gustaf Skarsgard of Vikings fame as Merlin, and Devon Terrell as Arthur himself. The first season will consist of 10 one-hour episodes.
Speaking with EW, Wheeler said:
“Realizing these characters from page to screen was a unique and thrilling creative challenge.
I think first and foremost when casting for Cursed, Frank and I were looking for a mythological truth, actors who could bring the emotion and the humanity to legendary characters without losing the sense of elemental magic and epic stakes.
Led by Katherine Langford, who is equal parts classic hero and sword-swinging badass, this extraordinary cast has brought such depth, commitment, and heart to this story.
We can’t wait to introduce them to audiences around the world.â€
Cursed is slated to premiere on Netflix sometime in summer 2020.
