Nioh 2 Sales Surpass One Million, First DLC Dropping In July

Publisher Koei Tecmo and developer Team Ninja have announced that Nioh 2 sales have exceeded one million copies worldwide since its launch in March 2020. To celebrate the milestone, they are giving the new commemorative Million Demon armour set to every player for free.

In addition, they have also announced that the first (of three planned) DLC for Nioh 2 is slated to launch on 30 July 2020. It will feature new storylines, new yokai, new bosses, Guardian Spirits, new skills, new armour and a new weapon, as well as new difficulty levels and additional end-game content.

Titled “The Tengu’s Disciple”, the first Nioh 2 DLC’s only description so far reads:

A great battle has taken place at Yashima in the late Heian period.

As a visitor in Yashima, our protagonist finds a shrine possessing a mysterious whistle called the Sohayamaru.

Upon inspection, the whistle shines radiantly as the shadow of Yokai can be seen lurking in the background.

It is revealed that whenever wars take place, heroes wielding the Sohayamaru will head into battle in order to restore peace back into this land.

More details will be revealed about “The Tengu’s Disciple” as we get closer to its 30 July 2020 release date. Meanwhile, the latest Nioh 2 1.09 update has added a much-requested Photo Mode, nine new missions (including sub-missions and Twilight missions), a new dragon Guardian Spirit named Mizuchi, and more improvements.

In the meantime, head on over here for my in-depth review of Nioh 2, and why it’s currently my personal choice for GOTY 2020.
