Total War Saga Troy Launches Exclusively On Epic Games Store This August

After initially being announced in September 2019, A Total War Saga: Troy has finally received an official release date, but there’s a catch. For the first time ever, a title in Creative Assembly’s Total War franchise will launch as a one-year timed exclusive on the Epic Games Store on 13 August 2020, with a Steam release slated for 13 August 2021.

The only consolation prize for gamers eagerly anticipating A Total War Saga: Troy is that the game will be free to claim (and own forever) on its first day of release on the Epic Games Store, according to the official blog post.

In addition, developer Creative Assembly reassured fans that they “have no plans for future games to be Epic exclusives”. They also revealed that the upcoming game’s Epic Games Store exclusivity is not only a result of Epic Games approaching them as part of a “commercial deal”, but also that they wanted to start diversifying onto other platforms.

You can already add A Total War Saga: Troy on the Epic Games Store to your wishlist now. As part of the “A Total War Saga” series, the upcoming game will be smaller in scale and focus on a specific historical setting/conflict. In this case, it’s the Trojan War in ancient Greece, which supposedly lasted 20 years according to myth and legend.

In the meantime, check out the trailer below.
