Does Anyone Remember Or Care About Alex Kidd? Here’s A Remake For You
By Jonathan ToyadVerified|June 11, 2020|0 Comment
Before Sonic The Hedgehog came into the picture as the de facto Sega mascot, there was the big-eared and giant-fisted Alex Kidd. This oddball of a cutesy mascot was in a slew of 8-bit Master System games and a 16-bit outing or two. He also made some appearances in titles like Sega Superstars Tennis because Sega likes to resurrect their past icons from their proverbial graveyard once in a while.
In other words, he’s a niche character only a few retro gaming fans care about. Now you can see what the fuss is about with the upcoming remake called Alex Kidd in Miracle World DX.
The remake comes with a new HD artstyle, the option to play the original Master System game in its 8-bit glory, as well as tweaked controls and gameplay.
The game is slated for a 2020 release, which is fine I guess. I’m not sure what the big deal is with Alex Kidd and his games; they don’t set themselves apart from platformers back in the late 80s and early 90s at all save for the “rock, paper, scissors” minigame. I’m shocked that there’s even a fanbase for this guy.
Alex Kidd In Miracle World DX will be out for PC, Xbox One, PS4, and Nintendo Switch for people who still give a s*** about a long-forgotten Mario knock-off in a goofy one-piece.
