Skullgirls 2nd Encore Is The Most Popular Game On EVO Online 2020 So Far

It’s a brand new day for fighting games, as their netcodes and online capabilities will be put to the test in this month’s EVO 2020 tournament. So which game has the most registrants?

Believe it or not, it’s the 2012 fighting game Skullgirls, or rather its updated form Skullgirls 2nd Encore. According to an official tweet from EVO chief Joey Cuellar, Skullgirls nails the top spot for each region in this year’s online EVO tournament.

Killer Instinct, Mortal Kombat 11, and Them’s Fightin’ Herds are also the top fighting games on the list. Then again, those are the only games that have acceptable online play infrastructures, but we’ll take what we can get.

Additionally, all fights in EVO 2020 will be changed to 3/5 games. Full numbers below:

North America

  1. Skullgirls 2nd Encore – 1,249
  2. Killer Instinct – 1,175
