QuakeCon Is Going Online This Year; Thanks COVID-19

Bad news: QuakeCon 2020 this year will not be held offline. Good news: it will be done online from 8th to 10th August GMT+8 starting at 0:00.

Dubbed QuakeCon At Home, the 25th iteration of the id Software-slash-Bethesda-slash-Quake-slash-Doom-related event will be the first time the convention will be hosted online. The livestream will be called QuakeCon Digital Welcome Global Super Stream (a mouthful, FYI) and will feature the following:

  • QuakeCon Twitch Team and the community playing games to raise money for COVID-19 relief efforts.
  • The Quake Pro League 2019-2020 finals, with 24 players fighting to get the huge share of the US$150,000 prize pool.
  • Exclusive swag for online purchasing, like these cute cat and dog t-shirts.

As a cat person, the one on the left speaks to me. Full schedules for QuakeCon will be revealed in the coming weeks. In the meantime, bookmark the website and Twitch pageso that you can tune in 8th August for the big show.
