In case you missed it, Zack Snyder’s Justice League or Justice League Snyder Cut is coming to HBO Max in 2021.

Director Zack Snyder has debuted a new clip for his version of the movie during the Justice Con virtual event last weekend, offering a glimpse of the Man of Steel in his iconic black suit.

If you’re a fan and have been following the #ReleasetheSnyderCut movement since the very beginning, it’s actually something Snyder has been teasing for a long time.

The 18-second clip shows Superman (Henry Cavill) introducing himself to Alfred Pennyworth (Jeremy Irons). Instead of wearing his iconic red and blue suit, he’s wearing all-black.

In the comics, Superman has previously worn a black suit several times, but most notably after the Death Of Superman arc (1992-1993) when he was brought back to life. The black suit was also known to be a regenerative one, which helped Superman absorb more sunlight in his new revived, but weakened, state.

Snyder said (via CNET):

“I thought the nice slow walk up might be a good way to just see it for the first time.

I thought from the beginning it was a great idea and I knew it was the correct evolution for him when he rose from the dead that he would be in the black suit.

There was this obsession with it being funny or light or something.

And for some reason the perception of the black suit made everyone feel like, ‘Oh, that sounds like you’re just trying to make the movie dark and scary.'”

In addition, Snyder also said that he won’t be using any of the reshoot footage by Joss Whedon from 2017’s Justice League for his version.

“I would destroy the movie.

I would set it on fire before I would use a single frame that I did not photograph.

That is a f—ng hard fact.”
