Geoff Keighley Shows Off What The PS5 DualSense Can Do With Astro’s Playroom
By Alleef Ashaari|July 18, 2020|1 Comment
During a live stream earlier today, Summer Game Fest host Geoff Keighley unveiled a hands-on presentation of the new DualSense controller for the PlayStation 5, playing Astro’s Playroom, a game that’s meant to be a showcase for the new controller (it will also be pre-installed on every PS5).
According to Keighley, the new adaptive triggers on the DualSense will have “pressure points”. For instance, you’ll feel the tension of drawing your bow in a game. Besides that, the speakers on the DualSense also has more “range” than the PS4’s DualShock 4. In the demo, you could listen to subtle sounds like the whooshing of a blizzard or the pitter-patter of footsteps.
Keighley even showed that players could blow into the DualSense to simulate a blowing effect in the game. In addition, Sony PlayStation Worldwide Head of Marketing Eric Lampel also appeared during the live stream. He confirmed that pre-orders for the PS5 and its console price will not be revealed anytime soon, dispelling recent speculations.
Lampel said:
“We’ll let you know when preorders will happen. It’s not going to happen with a minute’s notice.
We’re going to at some point let you know when you can preorder PlayStation 5.
So, please, don’t feel like you have to go run out and line up anywhere until you receive official notice on how that will work.”
