You Can Play Xbox Games On Your Android Phones Thanks To Game Pass Ultimate

As if taking shots at PlayStation isn’t enough, Xbox now flexes the fact that its Game Pass Ultimate deal will be available on Android phones and tablets via cloud gaming service this 15th September. Which means you can play your Halos, Yakuza games, and more on your Samsung or Huawei/Honor phones and other devices.

The Project xCloud gaming service will be available in 22 markets and features over 100 games, including Destiny 2, Gears 5, and Yakuza Kiwami 2. There’s no news on whether it’ll be out on Apple devices and iOS.

The 22 markets are: Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Spain, South Korea, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

Yes, Singapore and Malaysia are missing. Yes, a lot of us are miffed about this even with our US/Canada/UK Xbox Live accounts on hand.

Oh yeah, there’s more…

Xbox also announced third-party mobile peripherals that will complement the Xbox Game Pass cloud gaming mobile idea.

These include the Razer Kishi (centre), a mobile phone controller attachment which is available now for US$99.99, the PowerA MOGA Mobile XP-5X Plus Bluetooth controller (right) that costs US$69.99, and the 8BitDo SN30 Pro Bluetooth controller (left) that costs US$44.99. You can preorder the latter two from either the Microsoft store or Amazon. Don’t forget that you need an Android phone of your own though.

While the prospect of playing a Yakuza game on your mobile phone with tactile portable controls is great, it’s a shame that this service will not be available yet for Singapore and, by extension, Malaysia. They’re missing out on quite a market that relies on using their phones for their non-stop gaming habits.

Sure, they’ll have to pay for the monthly US$15 service and the extra controller, but it’s such a small price to pay when you can play hits like Ori and the Will of the Wisps and Ninja Gaiden 2 on your phone. Or any of the other 100+ games in the already-huge Game Pass library.
