[Rumour] Street Fighter 6 Delayed Due To Yoshinori Ono’s Bad Decisions

It’s nice to know that Street Fighter 5 is still going strong and is getting one final seasonal push. But there seems to be rumours that

According to insider Dusk Golem (via Twitter), the Season V pass for SF5 was considered an unexpected development and was introduced at the “last minute” as a way to buy additional time for Street Fighter 6’s development. See, Street Fighter 6 was supposed to release next year to capitalize on next-gen consoles. However, it wasn’t received well internally by designers and testers. The game had too much focus on its new team mechanic, which wasn’t the point of a Street Fighter title.

Since this decision was made by Capcom producer Yoshinori Ono, it was essentially his fault and was demoted and was replaced by a new producer named Midora Yuasa. She was reportedly well-known in the fighting game community and has some great ideas to fix Street Fighter 6.

You can read the entire Twitter thread here, with even popular fighting game content creator Maximillian chiming in. Long story short: Street Fighter 6 won’t be out for a while, Street Fighter 5’s Season V is goingto be the highlight for next year, and Yoshinori Ono is paying for this delay.

Again, take this with a pinch of salt since it’s still part of the Capcom rumour mill. But then again, a lot of things in Street Fighter 5’s tumultuous start are beginning to make a lot of sense. Hopefully, Capcom’s fighting game division is in better hands.
