Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla Creative Director Fired From Ubisoft

Ubisoft’s descent continues. Weeks after the company announced its plans to conduct an internal investigation on the company’s long-standing history of abuse and sexual misconduct, it has fired Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla creative director Ashraf Ismail.

The reason? Due to the investigation being done following his stepping down from the creative director role, after he was accused by a fan for lying about his marital status in order to have a relationship with her. Official statement below (via Bloomberg):

“As a result of investigations, Ashraf Ismail has been dismissed from Ubisoft and is no longer an employee”. Full story here: https://t.co/EjGC2qz8LV?amp=1

What does this mean for Ubisoft? Well, the company needs to fix its endemic culture due to years of ignorance; it’s also been affecting its past AC titles. With high-ranking execs like chief creative officer Serge Hascoet, as well as vice presidents of editorial Maxime Beland and Tommy Francoise also resigned due to pressure from the public following these allegations. Also, those guys were responsible for reducing the roles of women in past AC games because lead women don’t sell enough copies.

Even Ubisoft Singapore has its own issues; this whole toxic culture runs deep worldwide, sadly. We’ll get to that in a bit.
