Good news, League of Legends and MOBA esports fans: the 2020 World Championship will be held from this September until October in China. Rejoice!

In addition to the entire tournament being livestreamed as usual (via Twitch and YouTube), all stages of the tournament will be held in Shanghai starting 25th September. Yes, we know the current state of the world for offline events are iffy at best, but this is to ensure the health and safety of everyone involved in bringing the tournament to life.

“Hosting the event in a single city will reduce travel throughout the tournament and give us the ability to more closely control the show environment. We continue to use the guidance from various health organizations and local and national authorities to prioritize safety for our players, fans, and everyone involved with bringing Worlds 2020 to life.”

The top teams will be flying over and playing their hearts out until the tournament concludes on 31st October. 

The finals will be held at the Pudong Soccer Stadium in Shanghai, which is home to the Shanghai SIPG football club as well as the future hosting ground for the 2023 AFC Asian Cup. Furthermore, Worlds 2021 and 2022 will be hosted in China and North America respectively, assuming the world hasn’t gone to heck just yet.
