Batman The Long Halloween & Justice Society Animated Movies Are Coming In 2021

The first DC FanDome event is already over, but there was actually one more panel exclusive to IGN, which revealed the 2021 slate of new DC Comics animated movies. The Superman Man of Tomorrow DC FanDome Panel was hosted by Doom Patrol star Matt Bomer, and you can watch the entire 45-minute stream below:

In 2021, fans can expect four DC Universe Movies to be released, including two original productions and one two-part film that adapts an iconic DC Comics storyline. However, more details, including casting and exact release dates, will only be revealed closer to the respective movies’ releases.

Batman Soul of the Dragon

Their first release will be Batman: Soul of the Dragon, a 1970s-set original tale executive produced by the legendary Bruce Timm of Batman The Animated Series fame. The voice cast includes Grimm star David Giuntoli as the voice of Bruce Wayne/Batman, Arrow star Michael Jai White reprising his live-action role as Ben Turner/Bronze Tiger, Mark Dacascos as Richard Dragon, Kelly Hu as Lady Shiva, James Hong as O-Sensei, and Josh Keaton as Jeffrey Burr.

Justice Society World War II

The next film is Justice Society: World War II, an original story slated for release in spring 2021. It’s incredible that they’re finally giving the classic Golden Age heroes an animated movie of their own. This has been long overdue.

Batman The Long Halloween

Drum roll, please. The iconic Batman: The Long Halloween will receive a two-part animated feature film adaptation. the first part of which will debut in summer 2021 while the second and final instalment will premiere in fall 2021.

Batman The Long Halloween is a 13-issue comics story arc from Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale that was first published in 1996, which chronicles an early period in Batman’s crime-fighting career that sees him on the trail of the Holiday Killer, a serial murderer who claims a new victim on each major holiday.

It was iconic for having Batman, James Gordon and Harvey Dent (before he became Two-Face) going up against some of the Dark Knight’s best villains, including the Joker, the Riddler, Poison Ivy, Scarecrow, Mad Hatter, and more.

This is an interesting turn of events, considering that it’s been long rumoured that Matt Reeves’ The Batman will also be adapting elements from Batman: The Long Halloween, though that has yet to be officially confirmed by the director himself.
