Star Wars Squadrons Goes Gold, CG Short To Premiere Tonight
By Alleef Ashaari|September 14, 2020|0 Comment
EA Motive’s Star Wars: Squadrons has crossed a major development milestone. The game’s creative director Ian Frazier announced on Twitter that Star Wars Squadrons has reached “Gold” status, which means the game is ready to be made into physical discs.
In addition, the developer is teasing the premiere of a new CG animated short for Star Wars Squadrons.
In Star Wars Squadrons, players can look forward to 5v5 multiplayer space battles and a singleplayer campaign, where players will learn what it means to be a pilot as they battle from the alternating perspectives of two customizable pilots, one serving in the New Republic’s heroic Vanguard Squadron, while the other fights for the Galactic Empire’s fearsome Titan Squadron.
In the story, players will meet iconic pilots like Wedge Antilles and even some brand new ones who will be introduced in the game. EA Motive will introduce one of these new characters via the upcoming standalone CG short.
The short will premiere at 11pm GMT+8 later tonight on 14 September 2020. It remains to be seen if the new pilot will be on the side of the Rebellion or the Empire. From the looks of the Imperial helmet, it seems likely that it’s the latter.
However, it looks like the CG short will be a significant one, considering that it was developed by EA Motive along with the help of Lucasfilm and visual effects company Industrial Light & Magic.
Star Wars: Squadrons will launch for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC (Steam, Origin, and Epic Games Store) on 2 October 2020.
