That Among Us Game Is Super Popular At The Moment, Huh?

Just like Fall Guys did, indie game Among Us has exploded in popularity. Except the latter is 2 years old, so it doesn’t really count as a game made this year, though.

According to analyst site Sensor Tower, Among Us earned 18.4 million mobile downloads in August. That’s almost eight times as many downloads back in July when it garnered 2.4 million downloads. The game also earned another 41.9 million mobile downloads this September.

Meanwhile on Steam, it’s the most popular game on the PC platform with 268,000 players still on it as we speak.

Why the sudden popularity for this multiplayer game that’s basically the digital version of Werewolf/Mafia? It probably has a lot to do with prolific Twitch streamers spreading the good word about it recently. The game now has 247,000 viewers and is on par with titles like Fortnite and Minecraft thanks to folks like Sodapoppin, Shroud, Ninja, and Pewdiepie.

Also, memes like these are being circulated to massive effect.

So will there be a sequel to the 2018 original? Time will tell, but developer InnerSloth is working on it. No release date has been announced yet. My advice? Just keep the core gameplay of Among Us intact in the sequel, but probably with sleeker aesthetics and quality-of-life changes like matchmaking and moderation options.

i did enjoy the game so far. i play it on my andorid phone. my problem is every time i play it on my phone, there were times i get disconnected. im not so sure if this is true if you play it on steam.

my greatest moment is when i get to play as impostor and win the game within 4 minutes https://youtu.be/7Jb-I28M9Uo
