Dune Delayed To Late 2021

Just days after we learnt that James Bond’s No Time To Die would be delayed to 2021, another 2020 movie joins that list.

Warner Bros. and Legendary are delaying Denis Villeneuve’s Dune to 1 October 2021.

According to sources (via Collider), Villeneuve himself was supportive of the decision to delay Dune, considering that the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic is still affecting the movie industry worldwide and in the US.

Dune was originally slated to release on 18 December 2020. Meanwhile, Warner Bros.’ Wonder Woman 1984 is still scheduled for Christmas 2020. For now, that is.

The first film of an intended duology, Dune stars Timothée Chalamet as young prince Paul Atreides as he navigates the various forces at work trying to control his planet’s valuable resource, Melange, which allows for space travel, extends life and enhances mental abilities.

The film also stars also stars:

  • Rebecca Ferguson as Lady Jessica Atreides
  • Oscar Issac as Duke Leto Atreides
  • Stephen Mckinley Henderson as Thufir Hawat
  • Josh Brolin as Gurney Halleck
  • Jason Momoa as Duncan Idaho
  • Zendaya as Chani
  • Stellan Skarsgard as Baron Vladimir Harkonnen
  • Sharon Duncan-Brewster as Dr. Liet Kynes
  • Dave Bautista as Glossu Rabban
  • Charlotte Rampling as Reverend Mother Gaius Helen Mohiam
  • Javier Bardem as Stilgar
  • Stephen McKinley Henderson as Thufir Hawat
  • David Dastmalchian as Piter De Vries
  • Chang Chen as Dr. Wellington Yueh

In the meantime, let’s rewatch the trailer for Dune below. It’s all we’ll have until next year.
